Christopher Samuda will serve a third consecutive term as President of the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) after running unopposed in this morning’s election of officers at the JOA Olympic Manor in Kingston.
In the only contested race of the day, Robert Scott was elected second Vice President, securing 44 votes to comfortably defeat Ian Forbes, who received four.
One ballot was spoiled, while former JFF Vice President Raymond Anderson withdrew his nomination for the post via email prior to the vote.
First Vice-President Jacqueline Cowan and Treasurer Nicole Case both retained their respective positions unopposed.
The newly elected board of Directors will feature: Anthony Wilmot, President of the Jamaica Surfing Association, Karen Anderson, President of the Jamaica Squash Association, Nicole Grant-Brown, President of the Jamaica Gymnastic Association along with Lurel Smith and Gary Peart.
Samuda speaking with Irie Fm sports was humble in his appreciation for the confidence given to his team to lead for a third term.
