The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has added a prize incentive to the meet to be staged at the National Stadium as part of its Olympic Destiny Series tomorrow.
JAAA Treasurer Ludlow Watts made the announcement at a press conference recently.
Watts says the top six athletes in specific events will compete for cash in two sections: Premier and Classic.
The first prize for the Premier section is $100,000 while the Classic awards $70,000.
Second to sixth for Premier is $60,000, $40,000, $20,000, $14,000, and $12,000, respectively. Remaining prizes for Classic events are $35,000, $20,000, $15,000, $12,000, and $10,000.
While all these cash incentives are at stake, finishing in the top six does not guarantee these prizes as the JAAA has laid out specific standards to be met in these particular events.
Only local athletes are eligible and the Organising Committee will select the 10 disciplines — six Premium and four Classic – that will be used as qualifying events for the respective incentives.
