Reggae Girlz technical staff agrees to one-year contracts with JFF as team looks ahead to 2023 World Cup

The technical staff of Jamaica’s Senior Women’s football team have signed one-year contracts with the Jamaica Football Federation.

The contracts signed take effect from September 2022 and expire on September 30, 2023. Within that period Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz will compete at the FIFA Women’s World Cup set for July 2023 as well as the Olympic qualifiers in September 2023.

“The JFF sincerely thanks all members of the staff who were cooperative and understanding in the process as we intend as far as possible to strengthen our relations with players, technical and all support staff across all teams,” the JFF said in a statement Wednesday.

“In short order, the JFF will be looking to address support staff, as the Federation values all stakeholders as we move into a new and improved era. Other areas will be attended to also, including support systems and equipment that will enhance overall performance.”

These agreements, the JFF said, coupled with the preparation of the SWNT to participate in the aforementioned tournaments, including participating in and staging international friendlies such as those already with South Korea and coming up with Paraguay, are undoubtedly the largest investments the Federation has ever undertaken in women’s Football.

Meantime, the federation is urging corporate Jamaica to engage them in partnerships that will ultimately benefit Jamaica’s football.

“As the Federation continues to struggle financially, we invite the public and the private sectors to partner with us as we push to  improve the level of football generally and Women’s football in particular,” the JFF said.
